The Gig Harbor Dragon Boat team brought Gig Harbor power to the state capital at the Olympia Dragon Boat Festival, the fourth race of the 2026 season!

Racing three crews on the 250-meter course, our women went the distance in a big way. With pre-race attrition, all eleven of our cross-rostered women raced in up to seven heats each and stayed strong all day. Out of 24 women's crews, both the Fire team and the Fury team advanced to the B Final, where Fury paddled away with first and Fire took third. The mixed crew Storm team powered into a competitive A Final and finished a strong fifth.

Huge thanks to our captains, coaches, steers, and volunteers who made the day run smoothly, and a heartfelt tribute to longtime member Dennis English, who is hanging up his oar and stepping into a well-earned "steer retirement" while staying part of our dragon community.

Next up: Gig Harbor makes history at our first-ever Can-Am Club Crew Championships in Montreal, with five crews racing 200m, 500m and 2,000m. Follow along from our Race Page!

Stronger together, we paddle as one. Gig Harbor Dragons — WE GET IT DONE!
